#21 Podcasts

This is one tool I really like. Provides me the opportunity to catch up on news, radio programs, conference presentations and the like that I haven't been able to hear 'Live.'There are many places to find podcasts. the ones I visit most are ABC radio, Radio National, Library conferences,
and some of the databases we subscribe to at the Library also include them. One I used recently was Oxford Premium Online which provides many interviews and biographies. New material is regularly added.

#20 YouTube

If you have followed my journey so far, you will realise that sometimes I don't play by the rules. YouTube was another site that I visited early in the peace, when I was looking for some tutorials to add to the elearning egipps blog.
I've also played with Fuzzwitch and Google video.
Can see lots of potential in this media and will use in in some of my upcoming projects in communication, elearning and digital storytelling.

#19 Web 2.0 awards list

I've played with a number of the options, some of which I've heard about before but not followed up on. I only chose tools from the short version. Here's a list of some that I visited.
Flock: a social browser that lets you bring all your web accounts together and provides links to many of the popular tools. Could be quite useful.
Colour blender: 1000's of colour combinations that you can pick and use for graphic design, etc.
Odeo: One that I will spend more time on later. Podcasts and (free) mp3 music
One sentence: some people have too much time on their hands.
Ning: Lots of online communities.
43 things - will return to this later.

19 down - getting there!!

#18 Online spreadsheets

I opened a google spreadsheets and docs account earlier this year and have used it many times in a collaborative project. It's a bit limited for me as most of my correspondence has to be done in a corporate environment, but for brainstorming, drafting and gathering preliminary evidence, this is a tool I find useful.

Playing around with wiki

Haven't had time to do much with wikis in the past, but have had them on my to-do list. This exercise has given me more insight into the uses of wikis and once again, can see many uses for them. I've added my blog to the Austalian list and also a favourite gardening site.
the Libraries Success wiki is one I will come back to.

Libraries and wikis

Web 2.0 technologies provide the opportunity to develop new initiatives in library service delivery. Wikis in particular could be used to engage people in ways we would only have dreamt of in the past. Whether it be staff to staff in collaborative tasks, training and the like, staff to member or member to staff in collaboration or advisory roles, or maybe its an amalgamation of member to member, staff to many, member to many... the opportunity exists and it is up to us to think outside of the square - to adapt this resource to our community and organisational need. the following blog is a good place to start for ideas:
Introduction
Welcome to Library Success: A Best Practices Wiki. This wiki was created to be a one-stop shop for great ideas and information for all types of librarians. All over the world, librarians are developing successful programs and doing innovative things with technology that no one outside of their library knows about. There are lots of great blogs out there sharing information about the profession, but there is no one place where all of this information is collected and organized. That's what we're trying to do.

#13 #14 #15 Done

I've now worked through these tasks and have passed the half way mark of the program.
Web 2.0 offers a huge amount of options for libraries or indeed any organisation that engages their community. I will be putting some of these tools to work in the very near future..

Technorati

I've just joined and now about to 'claim' my blog by inserting code in this post Technorati Profile-

#12 Rollyo

Can think of some uses for this personalised search engine. I've started a set of travel sites and will come back and add more sites at another time.

Library Thing

Looked at this some time ago too, but have now gone ahead and actually added some books to my catalogue. It's very easy to use and has an enormous amount of titles. I tried to trick it by including some pretty old books, but it came through with a record.
Will look at this again and show it to some local groups who may want to use it for their collections.

# 10 Image generators

Hmmm, made this with Reflection Generator. Not a particularly good image to start with and it probably would have looked better in a sepia finish. However I think I've spent enough time with this and will move on.
Here's the link in case you want to play with this software -http://generatorblog.blogspot.com/

RSS feeds and Bloglines

I've been using RSS feeds for ages and think they are a great way to keep up with posts and articles I'm interested in.
I'll include a link to Helen Blowers YouTube video here.

Still playing

Hi everyone

Well I haven't written too much on this blog, I've been too busy playing and have posted most things to the elearning egipps site.

I've completed a no. of the 'things' now, though not necessarily in the correct order, more a matter of needing to do something. However, I am going to start back at the beginning, refresh my learnings and complete some of the other exercises.

In the meantime, I found an animation tool today that I just had to play with. It's called fuzzwitch. I managed to create a mini video and wanted to embed it here, but don't think this site will accept it. I'll find another place for it and add the address later. (Have a look and a laugh!!)
Ok forget all that, I've just managed to embed it after all. Scroll down the page and click on the small arrow below the picture. PLEASE let me know if you get something other than a Hello EG friends video!!
By the way... while you're here, please pin a post to my guest map and subscribe to my RSS feed.
Cheers
